The San Juan National Forest encompasses about 1.8 million acres in southwestern Colorado and is easily access from two points both less than 1/2 mile along Jackalope Drive. When there is a breeze, you'll hear the wind whisper through the towering ponderosa pines which also provide shade and privacy. Creeping barberry (yellow) and serviceberry (white) are some of the flowering plants you'll encounter. You'll have long views across the Little Bear Creek drainage into the national forest.
